I can understand wanting to sell them before winter and not bothering the neighbors.. You can always breed in the spring and bring the herd back up. And hopefully the new herd will stay home.

If you reduced the goats to 1 per forageable acre, that would be a good rule of thumb. That way they can forage and not be tempted to hop the fence looking for greener pastures.

I just direct sowed some broccoli, kale, mustard, spinach and turnips in the garden. hopefully this rain will help. I got tired of picking okra and mowed it down.

I am beginning to work out a problem Monden day homesteader gardeners have over the old-timers. the old timers used wood to build in so doing so deforesting the area around there homes for barns etc, by reducing the forest cover, which means there is less cover for dear, so if you remove trees around the greenhouse. garden area and use the wood for building or fences.
