i Have No Shame saying that if i hadn't wasted my 3 years over social media sites, than i would be much more happier, fitter and also would be doing better job.
Goshhh, it feels like This Ted Talk and message came out just for folks like me.
Using Social media should be for your benefits and empowerment rather than just hanging around there in unawarelytangled. He isn't wrong for millions of people around the world.!
Thank you sir! God bless you.

Excellent recording and clear voice. I am addicted to TEDx talks ..
Yes I learnt a valuable lesson
1. I do not need a job now, so why should I be in LinkedIn.
2. I have many skills, hobbies to engage in, why waste FB
3. I am not in Instagram, no worry.

I agree with him. I’ve been stopping my social media usage and see better a outcome in my life. However, I had to reach a certain point of (mostly financial) stability in my life where I finally could say: “Oh, I’m not on X app.” I would have never gotten a job without LinkedIn or Instagram.

And to bring up another point, the disabled community truly benefit from social media. It’s often their window into the world.

I truly enjoyed his arguments, but I wish he at least acknowledged some nuances.

I've been looking for an excuse to quit SM and I found it. There's so many profiles to manage and engage with a useless emoji, its definitely a cheap thrill with little frills. I'm only on it bc I have a business and its not exactly producing huge sales either so it's feeling like a waste of my time and mental space. My recent goal has been focused on choosing one to be good at and build instead of the 3-4 profiles I'm currently failing at managing. I really just wanna be on a farm somewhere in Africa feeding chickens and drinking coconut water. Who's taking the leap out of SM with me?

I deleted Instagram after watching this video because I had just had it. It began making me feel like I was in high school again...desperate to fit in.

I don't know. I like social media because it lets us see how our neighbors and people around the world are doing and lets us see how everyday normal people think and view the world, giving us different perspectives in life, as opposed to shutting yourself off completely and only thinking about your personal job and and only those directly around you. which of course IS priority, but I think exposure is always good. The real issue is that we don't take addiction seriously. Most things are healthy, or fine, in moderation.

I deleted my Instagram a few months ago at 57k followers-one of best decisions I ever made. I kept Twitter and went on it the other day and got nothing but angry after- and disgusted. Deleted that too..
so much happier

I quit all social media except YouTube, i had 40k followers on Tiktok where i did thirst traps because I'm hot AF ! I was banging Tiktok chicks like fireworks on bonfire night but i felt empty and fake posting video's to make other people happy when all along I felt sad and depressed .

I deleted my Tiktok last month and I feel like I've been reborn again 🙏🏻
