After watching this video, I just learned that a guy traded me a Genuine Norlund cabin ax with a pile of other axes yesterday…..does anybody collect these🇺🇸🇺🇸

I’m really curious about the “japaning” process used by Norlund. All the japaning I’m familiar with is black, yet the Norlunds I’ve seen with remnants of their original coating are a metallic teal/green, or burnt metallic orange. I’m fascinated by the mystery of how they got those colors that way.

I have a Norlund Hudson Bay camping tool set, same as yours and the tools have been barely used, maybe once, and the box is in great condition. Should I use them or preserve them?

That was awesome Chris. Too bad there wasn’t a video like that for everything we collect. Short and to the point. And a lot of information.Keep up the good work.👍👍👍👍

On your pair of Camp axes you have the ax and then a small Hatchet are there any markings on the hatchet? I just bought a pair of axes and I'm hoping the small one is the match set

This is gonna be a great series! Be interesting to see if the price of Norlunds skyrocket after these videos are out. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Do you have any idea what kind of steel was used to make these beauties? My Dad died a couple months ago and left me this adorably tiny little Hudson Bay styled hatchet. I looked closer at it and saw “Norlund” on the poll and I thought, “Who’s that?” Cause all I know are modern companies like Council, Gransfors, etc. I’m thinkin about restoring and re-handling it cause it’s all rusty now. Can’t be even a foot tall.
