Someone stole my wife’s credit card. I didn’t report it because they spent less money than she did.

That girl only doing 2year probation. The system must be a joke. That's a serious crime.

Clerk got 2yrs probation for stealing someone's hard earned money, possibly life savings. Most people will say that the credit company's cover the loss. But what dies it do to your credit rating. What happens when you get a lien on your account.
2yrs? Great Justice system. No wonder why criminals outnumber honest people.

This is not really a big problem. The biggest problem now is many stores, are not even checking ID when you use your card, which mean, a person can pick your card and use it without any ID. Before chipped cards, many years back, everyone was asked to show their second ID.

Dear ABC News, Thank you for your journalistic publication. I will be absolutely certain to pay in cash when I can, and to always be cautious when using my ATM and Debit Cards. I will never give my "16 Digits" to people I do not know very well.

Here in the UK I have never seen someone use the magnetic strip on a bank card. Every business that takes card uses chip and pin. Its been like that for decades.

The sad part is that we need credit to do ANYTHING in this country so we will always need credit cards, so this problem will never go away.

This could be avoided by giving customers a coordinate card (a card with a grid of many different 4-digit numbers). Whenever they were to make a purchase, the POS machine could point the customer to a specific coordinate in his card (e.g. A1, A2, B1, etc), and the transaction would only be successful if the customer then enters the correct number. Would make thieves need to have both the credit card AND the coordinates card. Giving the customer time to report the theft of the two before any crooks can make too many transactions.
