When you out it in photo mode you are able to shift the camera between landscape and portrait mode, since it opens the ball head to tilt down.

Hi just saw this video. I have this tripod and i'm looking for an l-bracket for the purpose of doing vertical shots but i'm failing to see how and l-bracket can actually be attached to this tripod. Do you have any advice on this?

Cool review. I'm considering this tripod and your review helps. One thing I learnt in another video: You need to switch the head thing there to photo (instead of video) so you can take a portrait shot :) ... of course you can also do it like you do with your smartphone (rotate the camera on the base) hehe ... and yes I am also in the flippy leg thingie camp!
