Patience was, is, and always will be the greatest weapon for Secondary-build German BBs.

FdG and Bismarck, even Preussen work pretty good nowadays with a main gun build.

Not that I'm a good player.... but I love the brawl build on GK.... I have so much fun with it. Yeah, I die more often than not... but I do a ton of damage and usually get 1 or 2 ships to take with me. The reload surprises people, especially when a cruiser thinks it can make a turn before my guns reload... yeah... that's juicy!

I LOVE GK - HERE IS WHY
There are two issues - you generally tend to keep Lutjens on Schlieffen, otherwise he is a missed opportunity. But tier4 skills for captain you need on Schlief secondaries+extra heal and repair parta + concealment for those ambushes (12, 5 secondary range + 12, 6 detection is the nastiest thing here). Borrowing a Lutjens back on GK then sets a drawback of not having a fire prevention and GK burns like there is no tomorrow (which often isn´t in that case).

The other thing with GK is that it is somewhat reliable due to amount of shells, and you generally want to spit them as fast as you can. Those Montana part missed an entire 1 reload time while waiting for perfect angle, definitely not worth it with 22 second reload and sluggish Monty rudder.

Well played GK is a monster in brawling situations and once it grows on you, you love it and with that legmod it is actually even better, especially for brawls or ranked. But you need to keep in mind that you turn slowly, guns are not fastest and you do not have torps. If you value torps and maneuvrebility more, go for Schlieffen. It you care about gun size on the same hull, get Preussen. But if you want a perfect sturdy brawler with 6km hydro (coal module worth it!) that also happens to be a premium (so free Lutjens transfers), get GK.

Similar to my build - but I'm using the 420mm guns with aiming mod in slot 3. Legendary Mod + the faster reload when in secondary range skill help pump out salvoes quickly regardless of which guns you're using; and the aiming mod + heavier caliber means you can get some solid wallops at long range without losing too much pen while your spotter's up.

I might try going back to 406s with secondary mod in slot 3 at some point, but I seem to recall feeling frustrated with it - too many whiffed salvoes.

I play it a lot, but I use the big guns + CE instead of FPE. Makes sneaking in much more easy and you deal more damage once you decide to shoot. I also use the legendary mod, but DCM2 instead of stearing gears.

Love Gk. When I quit WoWs again, it was the only ship i had unicum/superunicum stats in all three main categories of Win Rate, Average Damage, and PR. Gk just totally fits my style, my personality, my decision making.

Legendary GK still rocks! Porbably the most fun ship in my port. BTW GK is my most played ship, along with the Yamato, and the Kamikaze R.

What I wish they would fix is the zoom in and out bug. Where the crosshairs do not stay on the same spot. Makes playing Gunship DD's harder than it needs to be.

Yeah, this is how I build my GK. Having a 'full' secondary build but able to get my main battery reload down to 20sec is really nice for close in engagements. How I think about it is, if I'm playing GK, then I'm just throwing out the idea of long range engagements. Copium. So far its has worked for me, 127 games in GK, 74% winrate.
