EMG Geezer Butler PJ Pickup Set Demo

Here are a few sound bites of the pickups in each of four configurations. I really love this set as they are very classic sounding, which is a bit of a departure from EMG. They sport alnico magnets and are completely passive. Forgive the cheesy drum track, but enjoy the tones!

A proper demo by a proper bass player!! I was debating between these and the quarter pounders, definitely these have a more controlled low end and seem to be very sensitive to dynamics. I'm looking for that sort of vintage/modern sound.

Sounds great in this video. I recently bought a bass with an EMG Geezer PJ set stock. The P part sounds great. But honestly, the J bridge pickup is the wimpiest I've ever heard. My J-basses' bridge pickups are WAY more usable than the bridge pickup in the Geezer set. It was so bad that I thought they might be out of phase. But, no, wiring was correct. Just a wimpy pickup I guess, which is surprising since EMG claims it is a split single coil and wound to match up with the P pickup. Well... it doesn't. If I try to compensate by lowering the P and raising the J, both pickups start sounding nasty, although the volume is closer. If I set them to where they both sound best, the level on the bridge pickup is anemic and just way too thin and lifeless sounding in general. So... I ordered a 10% overwound split-coil bridge J-pickup from another maker to put in the bass. I'll leave the Geezer neck pickup since it does sound pretty good. But Jesus, I'd be embarrassed to pair that good sounding Geezer split with such a wimpy-assed bridge pickup. Yes, I realize that generally the bridge pickup on a PJ setup is going to be a bit lacking in level, but this is ridiculous. It's not only lacking in level, but it is thinner than hell. It's like it needs to grow a pair. Not usable at all unless the tone is rolled back, which of course, makes the level issued even worse. My other basses with EMGs sound great (they are all active). EMG REALLY, REALLY needs to reengineer that bridge pickup. Double the windings/wraps. Or feed that thing some Wheaties. Or Protein powder. Or testosterone pills. Or something!

Nice work. Can I ask about the passive/series toggle, do the gzr's have the option to switch? I thought with the solderless fittings they would be either or.
How are they wired from the box?
Tbh, this video is the best sounding gzr i can find on the web and the only reason im thinking of buying them.

Question . I have EMG their passive with an active preamp . My question is pickup height any difference in sound having them higher vs lower to the strings the way passive pickups work .
