Loyalty or not, she was under pressure to produce an heir and she didn't have much time left to do so. What the story tells us is that Batiatus was probably infertile. Besides, he's also fucking slave girls and she doesn't mind, she even pinches his tits in a scene while he's doing it. The loyalty that is portrayed in the series is one of the hearts/minds/business and it is portayed as such by the actors. Of course, there's also the Roman's reputation for lust in the script.
