Rope Splice on Timberline Express

Splice, splice, baby! This morning, the Leitner Poma of America & Copper crews started splicing the haul rope on the new Timberline Express lift!

What is splicing?
Well, in ropeway and ski lift transportation, cable splicing is when two ends of a chairlift cable are conjoined to create a closed loop. If it wasn’t already obvious, the process is a delicate operation that must be carried out manually & is labor-intensive. Once the operation is completed, the cable will be progressively tensioned and ready for test phases.
