The poor BMC guy is just a pawn in the game of chess, and becomes a medium for Srikant to exhibit his power over the Principal. Infact, going further, The real struggle is with his wife, whom he wants to impress by saving the child, and with whom he is battling an almost failed marriage.
Deeper still the real game of chess is within his own self. Pulled in different directions, he is on a mission impossible to prove his own worth before himself by saving the country, saving the marriage, winning confidence of kids and still maintaining a balance while the grounds beneath his feet are collapsing in all those different directions.
