how to get root access because without that the procedure u told cant be followed as in twrp app u need to have root access

This happens because the Installer can't mount the Vendor partition, the reason for that is that the ROM you've installed is a treble one and you most likely don't have a treble Recovery(vise versa) so for full compatibility you need to also have a treble recovery, then Mount Vendor and System partitions and finally Install Magisk.
P.S. you need Magisk-cust zips for treble ROMs/Recoveries

if you try to flash magisk in normal recovery this error will come
but if you use treble recovery it won't come

Here is how to do it:
1. Copy boot.img of your custom from your PC to download folder in your phone.
2. Instal Magisk Manager, click on Instal Magisk, click Patch boot file. Choose .img file that you copied to download folder. After process is completed reboot to TWRP
3. In TWRP click Instal, go to download folder. Change Instal .zip to instal .img. Choose file patched_boot.img and swipe to flash. Reboot to system.
4. Go to Magisk manager to check that you have latest version Magisk installed.

Thank you for the tutorial, unfortunately it still doesn't work. after installing the image boot.img and reboot, then boot TWRP and installing Magisk, I still get the Error 1 after "unable to repack boot image! unmounting partitions" :/ Do you have any idea why ? Thank you :)

You should really think about this video. My devices is mido

1.Root is required for Twrp app to work.(im flashing magisk to get root)

2.i was on Lineage os rom and it gained root access by flashing addon_su and tried this method. but still getting this error.

3.I flashed Twrp-treble and tried the zip flashed but phone is not getting to bootloader it just loops at boot image.

4. I flashed pixel experience rom with February security patch and magisk flashed with out any error (method in video is not used i just flashed).Then i updated the rom using built-in OTA and the magisk was gone! when i tried to flash again then the error 1 can't mount happends agaian

conclusion: this error happends in roms having latest security patche.

I don't know im wrong. But it just happened to me bro..
Can you revisit the process with a mido device having a rom with latest security patch (may 5)

Hey, why did you use different phones for this tutorial? First you showed us that you have problem in redmi note 4 then you use your OnePlus for solving this. Plz reply cause i have same problem in my redmi note 4. I tried all means formatting all the data and then flash magisk but it didn't work .

tried everything you showed, the error still persists. Anything else that can be done? This only come from aosp extended version 5.3 and above, previous version dont show this error and magisk does get installed, any thoughts on why is that?
