The Nintendo Switch has a game card reader similar to what was used on the 3DS handheld game consoles and both would sometimes stop reading games. If the game card or reader still won't work after cleaning them then you may need to replace the game cartridge reader. This video shows how to do that.

Hey man. Just replaced my broken cartridge with a new unit but the touch screen no longer works. I can now play games from the cartridge reader but the touch screen no longer works at all. Any suggestions?

Nintendo switches not reading the carts at first try is a common issue among every console just take it out, turn off the console, put the cart back in and turn the console on, the game will appear, some times even taking the cart out a couple of times and putting it back in works! there is absolutely no need of physically replacing the cart reader unless your games aren't being read at all, in that case the cart reader is broken otherwise isn't, before freaking out, breath, take the game out, turn off the console, put the game back in, turn on the console and play!

I'm really overwhelmed over this, I bought like 6 nintendo switch games in some store and when I saw the Game card it just looked weird probably shipped from Europe or something, just buy physical online from official and trusted people guys. If you buy it and it just looks fishy and nothing like the original switch games, then leave it it can damage your switch

I see complete $60 kits that include the headphone board and all, and I see simple cartridge slots for $10.

Is it possible to just replace the cartridge slot if you’re reasonably confident that it’s not working only due to bent pins?

well I have an issue that everytime I insert a different game card it says"This gamecard could not be read please re-insert it and try it again" and it continues to say that with all my gamecards..is there any way to fix it

I replaced my gamecard slot with my buddy's original game card slot. Both don't seem to work. Is there anything I can do? Or is it time to only play games off the sd card?
