Apart from the slot not being the correct shape for the hinge - the screws aren’t centred and hence don’t go properly home and flush. Using a centred pilot bit like one of the trend ones sorts that problem out.

The first way is not how to chisel out a hinge properly...I don't know who taught you to do it like that but they want a good talking too....once you have scored/chiselled the outer perimeter you should use your chisel, bevel side down, to create a series of depth cuts, which means you can then easily pair down the bulk of the timber in smaller sections. It is done this way to stop the timber splitting down the grain, especially on the side of the door. This splitting is very common on pine doors, or timber with offset grain...you go to tap in with your chisel and, as the cut out is invariably wider than the chisel, the timber will split along its easiest you have a series of depth cuts it stops this from happening. And the second way...if your going to use a router use a cutter that has the same radius as the corner of the hinge and a fence set to the width of cut out, then you will have round internal corners to match the hinge, not sharp square corners.
