Did you know seas around the UK and Isle of Man cover nearly 885,000 square kilometres – over three times the size of the UK’s land mass!

UK seas contain important habitats that capture and store carbon, known as #bluecarbon.

They include:
~ Seabed sediments (mud and sand)
~ Saltmarshes
~ Seagrass meadows
~ Kelp forests and other seaweeds
~ Biogenic reefs like maerl beds, mussel beds and honeycomb worm reefs
