On March 30 and 31, the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program welcomed attendees to honor Clinical Professor Emerita Deborah Anker, co-founder of HIRC, at their spring 2023 “Emerging Issues in Immigration Law” conference.

The conference commenced on Thursday March 30 with “A Retrospective Look at the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program and the Impact of Co-Founder Deborah Anker,” a panel discussion featuring Professor Anker and HIRC co-founders Nancy Kelly and John Willshire Carrera, in which they talked about the program’s significant and rich history and celebrated Professor Anker’s contributions to the field of immigration law.

On Friday, March 31, the conference featured three panels with distinguished advocates and experts addressing critical issues in immigration policy, including anti-blackness at the border, the abolition of immigration detention, and the impact of climate change on migration.
