Michael was very stylish but simple. Even with a Sparkling Jacket, V neck undershirt, High water pants, white socks, and loafers, he looked cool in the 80's, 90's, and beyond!

I never understood why ppl felt it was necessary to tell someone to change this or that. Michael was extraordinary and different. Even to this day, his fashion still inspires the new generation.

Michael's Fashion Look is Timeless. He knew he what his Signature Style was and, though evolved a little thoroughthe years, to this day has Influenced other Artists with how they dresses. Glad he didn't listen to Madonna or any of these designers advice for him to change his whole style.

After all those crazy ideas, Michael puts on a white shirt and black pants and everyone said, “This is it!” 😂😂😂

What’s funny is that 30 years later…his OWN unique looks from this era are STILL relevant & casually talked about today. Many of those outfits were indeed HIDEOUS 🤢, goofy, & not in alignment with his personal style 👑. His fashion choices were never going out of style! For every single person that commented negatively on him- where are they now & have they succeeded him in relevancy and global impact? Exactly.

The 1991 Grammys look was a classic Michael Jackson look. This was his look. A radical overhaul wasn't going to work for me but maybe variations on his existing look. Michael was a person, like Prince and Madonna in the 80s, who had their own distinctive image.

Who tells Michael Jackson to change his style? I mean, he was original. Style personified. The sequence glove, white socks, those iconic jackets and when he was in the mood nobody wore a tailored suit better. His slim physique could compete with any male runway model. Michael could pull off wearing what no one else could. BTS for goodness sake are Michael Jackson styled all day long especially when
Michael wore his hair short. The makeup. Love you Michael.

I admire that he stuck to his own style and preferences more or less throughout his entire life. Although that Mugler all black leather look would have been incredible for a shoot at least!

Those designers didn’t take into consideration that he was a dancer. That should’ve been discussed before the sketches were made.

Clearly most of the designers had no idea of who MJ really was. There was no way he was wearing most of that crap.

*Whats interesting is that so many fashion houses have emulated his style into their garments. Most notably what Virgil Abloh did with his run at Louis Vuitton a few years ago. He put together elements of Michaels style into his fashion show. MJ’s style still holds up til this day*

They always find something on Michael to be criticized.
His long curly hear wasn't good anymore, when he wear straight hair, he doesn't want to be black, it was never enough.
I am glad he did it his way, that is why he is Michael Jackson, the unique Michael Jackson.

I really can't imagine MJ in any of those designs, especially those heels.

MJ's style was singular and timeless. When I think of celebrity fashion icons he definitely comes to mind. As someone who owns a fashion brand, I'd love to do more research on his style and even design an MJ inspired collection one day. Also, he looked GOOD in that Herb Ritts photoshoot! My God! I especially love the toned down looks because they bring out his beautiful face, especially his smile and eyes.

No disrespect to Madonna, but a large part of her public identity revolved around either shock-value or keeping up with the latest styles and trends. Quite simply, Michael didn’t have to do that. Madonna is still trying to evolve herself to stay “up to date” with the younger, “trendy” artists today. Just look at her Tiktok.

Unfortunately, I don't think his "In the Closet" look, despite it truly reinventing Michael, was the look that made his early 90s. The outfit that stands out the most was his Black or White look. The armbands, white cape, white shirt, black pants. 👨‍🍳 💋

I remember the final photoshoot images when I was a kid. I couldn’t believe it was him, he looked so handsome and masculine, fresh and modern. I liked that he kept it simple and clean. Even the way he combed his hair back was so sleek.
