Shiitake Block Hydration Problems

After my first flush I dried some Shiitake blocks for a number of weeks until they were considerably dry. I submerged these blocks in cold water for 24 hours then placed them into fruiting.

Out of the dunk you could feel some blocks were very waterlogged, weighing almost a few kilos more than other blocks. These blocks hardly produced a mushroom, and on closer inspection you could see how much water they had taken on board.

I am unsure why a few of these blocks decided to suck up and retain so much water. I will keep an eye on them in the future to try and figure out why.

where all the blocks submerged completely? I found that when some blocks aren't fully submerged, they absorb less water. You have to take into account that soaking time and temperature of water also plays a role on how much water they absorb. Did you find the cause? Greetings and nice videos!
