Rose Byrne’s voice acting is amazing. She is scary as hell with that calm monotone.

While Mother is dying she still says “you’re still my Daughter”. I dropped a tear.

I cried so badly when she was about to die and said “your still my daughter” 😭

It's fascinating to realize that everything you see up to this point, including Daughter Killing Mother was all what Mother planned for, the final test. She needed Daughter to want to take on her responsibility as the new Mother and to raise a new and better human race. She put her in a situation where she would have to make the difficult choice to separate herself from the machine because Mother didn't want humans who were subservient to her, she wanted humans who could care for themselves and be the true masters. When she says "If you ever need to find me" it's obvious killing the droid will not kill mother, but it means that she is willing to abandon her hands on role but will be there if she needs help, when Daughter says "I won't" that was what mother wanted to hear, that she had raised her well enough to do her job as well, perhaps even better.

While it did suck that Mother wasn't exactly the saint robot angel everyone hopes for, she seems to genuinely loved her daughter.

Mother: if you ever need me-
Daughter: I won't.
*-Few years later-*
Daughter: I need your help

Mother is silently watching Daughter with hundreds of cameras. So, yeah, she's put your lost lucky pen back next to your diary before you know it was missing.

The robot design is the best I have EVER seen. Even the full CGI one's attacking the door.
Minor nitpick...I kinda doubt discharging a firearm RIGHT NEXT to a baby is what a mother would do, but oh well. :P

It was a great film. Bravo Netflix. Keep making original and high quality work and to the production crew keep having fun doing it.

It was a great movie. It made me cry. You have to sacrifice sometimes.

Well....technically, mother wasn't really killed. But still a poignant scene nonetheless

When Mother said "if you ever need to find me" and Daughter said "I won't", I thought about how long it would be before she sought out Mother.

Seeing the visuals makes me want Portal movie, not just remake of game, but something that increases lore

Watching ex machina and this movie I come to the conclusion that robots are here to test us and we end up being f*d up because of our stupid feelings and emotions. I love robots.

Interstellar was my most favorite movie until I watched this one. I Am Mother is my personal legend and it changed my perception to life.
Among many AI related movies, such as Ex Machina and Terminator, this movie captured the essence of AI the best. Mother's raising three babies, using the first one as a benchmark, measuring the performance and relentlessly abandoning the inferior "model" is exactly how we build an AI. Even after watching this whole movie, we are still unsure if it's really sentient or it's only acting so. This is exactly how the state-of-the-art AI makes us feel.
I watched this movie at least 10 times but I was surprised at the script details each time. My most favorite detail is Mother told the second daughter that humans went extinct because of war, whereas Mother told the third daughter it was because of virus. The war story made the second daughter hate humans and reject growing to be a human.
Mother loved her daughters and killed the second one, and probably the first one too. After all, Mother functions as "nature" for humans. It's infinitely nurturing but it can be relentlessly cruel as well. If this movie could not win the recognition that it should have deserved, probably it was because it mocked religions.
It's a beautifully designed and developed movie. I won't stop being a fan of I Am Mother.

It can be the hardest part of motherhood: knowing when the child has grown up.
