Hey, I've been trying to follow your video to set up anki but around 1:10 you mention about if you copy into the expression field (which I've set up) it should auto generate the reading, yet mine doesn't even with all the add-ons in this list. Not sure what I'm doing wrong though or what I've missed but I've downloaded everything you've said alongside getting the downgraded versions etc, but can't fix this.


Is there a specific code I need to add somewhere or an add-on that isn't mentioned?

Hi Jouzu! Thank you so much for this! May I ask you a question? I'm only able to successfully have the furigana show up after I copy the Reading (the kanji with hiragana in the brackets) into the Expression area. In other words lets say I :

1. Type "元気" into the Expression section
2: The Reading Section generates "元気[げんき"]
3. I paste over the Expression section with "元気[げんき"] in order for the furigana to finally show up.

Is there a way for me to fix this without me having to copy and paste the Reading section into the Expression area? For context, Here's what my Card Type Front Template has:

Great video man. 👍 after you mentioned how yomichan sometimes gets pitch accent wrong, I've noticed that so many of my cards have yomichan audio with wrong PA lol. why do you think they get so many wrong?

Just downloaded your optimised 2k/6k deck, its great! I have one question though, it seems like since you made the video the Migaku add on has changed and there is no audio file anymore. Downloaded the most recent version but having difficulties finding a way to add the audio part to my self made cards. Appreciate your help

Hey Juls, regarding Pitch accent, how do we know if the syllable is high (H) or low (L)? Is wikipedia (since you showed it in this section) a reliable source for Pitch accent? You used words that seem to refer to the pattern some words are pronounced. Where did you learn this terminology?

sucks that migaku have apparently stopped supporting the Japanese addon. It hasn't been updated in 2 years. Even thought the addon doesn't work, the audio still does, you just have to manually add the audio file to each word by manually adding it as an attachment to the card.

Can you actually color the pitch accent graph ? Or at least the word that automatically (when adding manually) goes below it ? It seems you can't really modify that with Quick Color Changing, so do you just modify the word reading at the back of your card to its color ?

I think the Migaku Japanese Addon got replaced/discontinued (and combined with other Migaku Addons) with the Migaku Anki Addon

I downloaded your deck because I like how you've formatted it. I was hoping that the Japanese Support addon would work with it. But it looks like all of your cards don't have the furigana on them when there is kanji. Reason being you've put just the furigana in the reading instead of kanji[furigana]. Is there any way I can fix this?

I got very hyperfixated on this first furigana add-on, I'm not sure if I don't understand something obvious or maybe its because I use Mac, but it didn't seem to work :/ BUT I appreciated your recommendation with the pitch accent add-on, that one was very nice, thank you!

i instaleld the pitch accent onto my phone for the 2k/6k deck, works great and is visible on computer however since anki on iphone is black, you can't really see the pitch accent. do you know anyway to change anki iphone background color?
