That seems reasonable. They are arguing about one of the biggest problems with money.

The people paying them know it's going to be more than 5 percent cost of living rise. They don't want to take that burden for their workers.
They have caught on to the scam. Profit is what drives the market not supply and demand anymore. So if they increased pay 12 percent these workers will be in that never ending cycle.
No matter what wage they give people, companies that produce goods and own places to live will adjust prices to keep making profit.

They promised to invest that money in a retirement fund for their parents and it was mostly Bs. People are sick of the moving targets money scam brings.
