Amazing Flying Robots you must see

BionicSwift
BionicSwifts are agile, nimble and can even fly loops and tight turns. The five artificial swallows can move in a coordinated and autonomous manner in a defined airspace by interacting with a radio-based indoor GPS (ultra wideband, UWB).

MetaFly | A New Flying Experience.
An absolutely unique biomimetic controllable creature. Forget about drones, it's time to experience flight like never before.

BionicOpter
Festo has technically mastered the highly complex flight characteristics of the dragonfly. Just like its model in nature, this ultralight flying object can fly in all directions, hover in mid-air and glide without beating its wings.

eMotionButterflies
For the first time Festo combines the ultralight construction of artificial insects with collision-free flying behaviour in a collective. For coordination purposes, the eMotionButterflies make use of a guidance and monitoring system, which could be used in the networked factory of the future.

Bionic Flying Fox
Thanks to its intelligent kinematics, the BionicFlyFox can master the agile flying manoeuvres of its natural role model. In order to be able to move in a defined space semi-autonomously, it communicates constantly with a motion-tracking system.

Fleye - Your Personal Flying Robot
Fleye is a whole new kind of drone. Safe, fun and autonomous. Invent the future of flying robots thanks to its open API and SDK.

These are amazing machines, all brilliant in their own right. I love how they imitate the flying of birds, butterflies, insects and bats. The dragonfly appeals to me a lot, just as it is more complicated than the others!

It’s truly remarkable how well they have been able to mimic some of mother nature’s most amazing flying creature. I’m sure many think it looks like it was simple but people have been trying to do the same thing for decades with little to no success. They really have something to be proud of there at FESTO. If I was a man that had money I would have one of each. Somehow I have a feeling, that they would be very therapeutic just to watch. Excellent work to all involved

Every robot is gangster until they see a certain blue hedgehog.

The dragonfly is a bit flawed. It's wings aren't synchronized quite like a real dragonfly, and they also don't turn enough. A real dragon fly when it's wings retract they turn so they don't pull air both ways, they turn and become more air-resistant, then they turn back to push the most air. I could tweak that thing a bit and make it super efficient.

How is it possible for people to actually want to thumb down something such as this? It is really beyond anything. Probably those people are the ones that think earth is flat! LOL

Just stunning, think of all the possibilities, in say earthquake zones or other disasters both natural or man-made, like Chernobyl no need to put humans at risk and then, of course, there's Hollywood and the Movie world or even advertising on the wings, me I would use them to calm the minds of babies or the mentally impaired who can only understand sight sound and texture. I have my own mental problems and I find them as said before very theraputic. Well done that man.

I have seen the Festo Flying Fox several times since they first released it some years ago. Each time I can't help thinking they have the flapping motion wrong. There are flying foxes in my country indeed sometimes around my house at certain times of year. What I think is going wrong with Festos is that the wing bends upwards at the finger ends, but in nature these reamain quite stiff, like the ribs on an umbrella. So perhaps the flying fox is just too had to make. It looks more like a kestrel or a sea gull.

the last drone is similar to star wars' drone(part 1) which tried to find jedi on Tatooine

would be cool if the last one had induction charging at the bottom so i could program it to land on an induction charger when it's low on battery

Very impressive. But how do they perform in windy conditions (outside)? And can they hover...like a humming bird? Fly backwards? Not yet? It's still very impressive and I can see where making these flying robot birds will enable some amazing wildlife documentary footage....!
