I have had this snow blower for 5 years now. starts on 2 pulls. Great machine

Nothing much has changed in decades on these basic 2-stage snow blowers. I have a MTD from 1985 that is pretty much identical to the Troy Bilt you are showing (except it has a Tecumseh Snow King engine). It works as good today as when it was new.

Just cleared 12 inches of snow with this blower in Chicago. Great machine! Only somewhat negative things to note, the screw attached to the handle to spin the auger sometimes loses track of the groves in the chute itself, so you can't turn it with the handle until you manually re-align it.
Also, as with any machines that use this 208cc engine, if you leave fuel in it for a season without running it, the fuel injectors in the carb will clog up 100% of the time. Its not that big of an effort to clean it out, but always drain it at the end of every season and leave the throttle in the "stop" position for storage to save you the hassle when you want to use it again.
The electric start is a nice option, but this thing always starts on the first pull and the effort on the pull cord is so minimal, its not really worth plugging it in for the electric start. They could have saved some weight by eliminating the electric start, but I'm nit picking here.

I think it’s best to completely drain the fuel and run the carburetor “dry” before storing the snowblower for the summer. Stable might prolong the life of your gas but won’t keep the carburetor from gumming up.
Also ethanol free gas is becoming very popular for use in small engines if you can find it. We’re lucky here there’s one pump in town that has it and sells very well.

I've had mine for 14 years! Still runs great. Installed an impeller kit after the first time using. Like injecting steroids into the machine. Use non ethanol gas and add stabil!

Bought this machine a few years ago partially based on your guys initial video. So far so good. Solid machine that didn't break the bank and just works. Starts on 1st or 2nd pull every single time.

I have a storm 5524 which won't start which came with the house I bought. Will use fresh gas and probably use a turkey baster to get rid of the old oil. Hope it works. Very heavy, hard to take to the repair shop in a sedan car. We get a lot of snow here in the highlands of new jersey.
