One of the single best songs written in the last 10 years!

Told my wife to listen to this and follow along with the lyrics. Then I jumped in the shower. 8 minutes later, I emerged, to find her in a complete mess, tears flowing. Not my intended reaction, but she was moved.

He's 26 in this video. Just think about that. We have decades of this to look forward to.

Hear it from a 59 years young man, a bluegrass lover and musician: I think I’ve listened to Away From The Mire more than anyone else on this Earth. It’s a genius song. Billy, please mary my daughter!

This "kid" just won Instrumentalist of the Year, and New Artist of the Year at the IBMA's. He and his entire band are total virtuoso's. They are at the forefront of the Alt/Progressive Bluegrass scene helping to carry the torch of some of the more recent greats to do the same over the past decade+. Do yourself a favor and go check them out if they come anywhere near you. Do the same for Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Trampled by Turtles, The Infamous Stringdusters, Punch Brothers, The Steeldrivers (formerly led by Chris Stapleton), etc, to name a handful of the bigger acts. Many, many good up and comers as well. Mindblowing live shows....all of em.

This is the last thing I expected to see on here but I absolutely approve.

What a masterpiece. The more you listen the more layers in the song you notice. Billy strings and his bandmates are supremely talented.

What you see here is a legend in the making. We welcome a new prince of jamgrass that will join the ranks Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, etc.

This is a deeply moving and truly outstanding musical tour de force. I like to put this song on when I commute to my dead end job at 6:30am and it never fails to brighten the day.

Kinda amazing. About a year ago my friend came to my and asked if I wanted to Billy Strings. I had no idea who he was but I said sure because he has fantastic music tastes and we had just recently gone to a JRAD concert in Red Rock which blew my mind and opened my eyes to the Dead. I didn't really bother to look into it because I kinda wanted to see the concert fresh like JRAD, but I had a long Friday night by myself with just me and power leveling my DK on WoW Classic about 2 weeks from the concert. This was the first song I clicked on and I was instantly hooked. Like sitting in my chair clicking 1 2 and 3 on a keyboard and all of the sudden I had a need, no a hunger, to boogie. I just needed to move. We went that concert and my god was it one of the most fantastic things I had ever experienced. If JRAD was wading into the shallow end of the pool then Billy's concert was cannonballing off the diving board into a world I had never known. I have never felt some kind of intangible air of good vibes; peace, love, rock and and roll, that kind of thing, in a single place before. Maybe it was the kind strangers that my friend and I befriended that shared some cool things with us that made it so memorable. (I had never just MET people at a concert before this and JRAD.)

Of all the acts I have seen live: Kendrick Lamar, Rush (2 times), Muse, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Coheed and Cambria (3 times) and countless local bands at bars this was one of the most amazing nights of my life. I would only put it behind my first Coheed concert because you can never truly top your first concert, especially if you're 17 when it happens.

Billy and the boys are about to up. Saw them 2 years ago in Montana with like 15 friends on a Ski Trip... never considered ourselves bluegrass fans before but we've been consumed by Billy ever since!

Billy strings and sturgill Simpson are the best things to happen to country music in recent years!

I like the sound they achieve with Jared on the mandolin. I feel like it makes them more tight. He's one of the best mandolin players around nowdays

Lyrics: Remember the time we were both eye to eye
And we both knew the reasons why
It seemed like we faced the world on our own
Before we collide can we just take a moment
Collecting reflections of this
And remember the paths that we chose
Spring lied to us this year again
I can't stand to face the fear again
But you could always laugh about those things
It's enough to make a man feel sour
Burning minutes every day by the hour
Just to end up gone like everything else
Let go of the pain and hold onto the rhythm
It's consciously held back in you
You're drowning a sorrow that's long been at rest
The past is a hell, it can creep up inside you
So let me remind you of this
It's the reason your troubles exist
Spring lied to us again this year
And still I can't stand to face the fear
Will you always laugh about those things?
It's enough to make a man stay humble
Every day is just a new chance to stumble
Just to end up gone like everything else
If ever a time comes around in the wheel
To replace where we stand side by side
We'll be ready and able to fly
Away from the mire
And the senseless decisions of somebody's wasted desire
Through the smoke and the wind and the fire
Spring lied to us this year again
I can't stand to face the fear again
But you could always laugh about those things
It's enough to make a man feel sour
Burning minutes every day by the hour
Just to end up gone like everything else
