Emmy-Winning Actress Anne Heche Declared Brain Dead, Spokesperson Says

A family statement confirms Emmy-winning actress Anne Heche has been declared legally dead a week after she crashed her car into a Los Angeles home. Police say Heche had drugs in her system at the time of the crash and suffered a severe brain injury that sent her into a coma. NBC News’ Anne Thompson reports.

Nothing excuses her actions. On the other hand SO many Americans are suffering some substance abuse. Mental health is real and we ALL need support. Condolences to her family and empathy to the woman who almost died too and lost her home. Horrible all around

I hope the lady who was injured by the car driven at speed into her home makes a full recovery - and successfully sues the actress’s estate for enough to rebuild her home (or buy another), pay her medical expenses, and for compensatory damages for trauma. She deserves more than a brief sentence in news reports. Her “story” would have been central if the DUI driver had not been a celebrity.

Sad story but when someone has the resources that Heche had, they are responsible for their own rehab. Millions of people with far less resources do their best to remain sober. She's been at this for decades.

I didn’t understand when my mom died, she was still breathing how could she be dead.Didn’t realizie machine kept heart pumping. She was brain dead! She would have been a vegetable the rest of her life. Doctors said it wasn’t practical for her or the family, no quality of life. So we had machine turned odd. My mother had the most beautiful white skin, but the minute machine turned off, she went a pale grey and turned cold. I was shocked. She had a brain aneurysm. Killed her instantly I think. But kept on life support for family to gather. She went quick, so very lucky in that sense no lingering suffering. RIP Anne

It's worth noting her car was going so fast that it impaled the house by 30 feet and then ignited, setting the house on fire. Essentially she turned her car into a ton-and-half bullet. 😳 I say "she turned" because it appears she was intoxicated, which is a felony DUI because there was a victim.

I want everyone to know that all of the insults aimed at Anne Heche is not affecting her; she cannot see your postings; she cannot hear your yelling and she cannot feel the sting of your anger...

She is not of this world anymore; so, she is not the one you're attacking; you're attacking her family, her friends and her fans, as if they could had saved her. They couldn't; when you're suffering from mental illness, or any other affliction, the only person that can save you is YOURSELF.

As my mom once said, "A closed mouth can't be fed." If you need help, ask for it.

I don't see no reason to go after her; with too many murderers, serving time in prison, for sins worthy of the death penalty; Ms. Heche's sin had sentenced her to death. So, just keep your negative comments to yourself. If you can't offer a prayer, don't offer anything at all.

So sad for her family right now. Not to diminish it,
but there is a go fund me page for Lynne Mishele, the woman who narrowly escaped with her animals. She lost everything and has to start over. The owner of the home/landlord started the account for her.

It’s sad. If it was because of drugs then it’s still sad. People on here are heartless and pathetic.
