My mom passed in 2017, from complications of diabetes, kidney failure and lung cancer. She was my very heart, and best friend. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and miss her.. This was our song, she once told me this song she cherished cause it made her think of me and my siblings. Right before she passed, I played this song, one last time, for us. We looked at each, and cried. Then she passed a little while after that. My heart will never heal, and I just need my momma.. I carry on and do my best, because I know she'd want me to...but without her, I just feel so dead inside.. But, I'll keep going, and trying. Because, I know that, God willing, we'll meet again in Heaven. Then, it'll be you and me and you against the world again, mom! I danced with my mother to this song at my wedding. I was an unemployed high school drop out marrying the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. A young scared kid holding on for dear life. My mom was a single mother of six kids. She worked three jobs for as long as I can remember. My older brothers and sister worked and contributed just to make sure we could eat and have heat and open gifts on Christmas. 30 years later I am still married to that beautiful girl, with a granddaughter of my own. My mom is gone but not forgotten. She was the greatest woman I had ever known. A mother, a father, a role model and so much more. She always felt she could never give us all she wanted, but she gave us more than anyone could ever ask for. She gave me a family. Brothers and sisters who will always be there for me no matter what. Family is the greatest gift.

Beautiful....great memories back then....my mom passed away in 1979 after a lengthy illness of about 7 years....I was just out of college by a few years at that this song was first released in 1974, I immediately thought of my mom and all that we had gone through together while I was growing up. Today, it reminds me of her more than any other song I know of. Not embarrassingly I confess I cry each time I hear it. She was always there for me and I strove so much to be there for her until the end. She's with Jesus now and I look forward to seeing her again! I love and miss you, momma!
