There was a time not much ago when hatchbacks were priced around 5 lakh, sedans were priced 7-10 lakh and suvs like scorpio and safari were available in 10-15 lakh. But now top model swift is 10 lakh on road, sedans like honda city and verna are priced 14-17 lakh, suvs like scorpio and safari are crossing 20-25 lakh price segment.

Don't know why India is not looking to build a good infrastructure for ev's. 50-60 percent of electricity is still generated through coal, pathetic conditions of charging stations at some places and some stations charge owners according to the time taken to charge an EV. Just giving subsidies will not help. Due to such issues the ev ownres are forced to go back to ICE cars according to some reports.

Few questions
1. How many people are ready to pay extra for less polluting vehicle? Many will modify their cars for extra money but won't pay for pollution control.
2. How many people use the car for 15 years? Car manufacturers are creating artificial demand and people replace the car in 4-5 yrs even if there is no much kms running.
3. Why these norms not talking about pollution created indirectly? The amount of pollution made to make one lithium battery is far more than 100 polluting vehicles and Europe wants to go for 100% EVs. How hypocrite?
