Montgomery trade away early is a very mid strategy. Why? You’re not spending huge draft capital on him (round 5/6 even 7 in some cases) and therefore to start the year your “value” in a trade scenario is capped until game start playing and points are being scored. Second, he’s got arguably the highest contingent upside in the Legaue at that low draft capital if Gibbs misses time. And Gibbs has already had a soft tissue issue heading into the season.

Monty doesn’t really fit into this category like the other guys. I’m all on board selling Mandre, Henry, Zeek. Hell yeah - go for it. But having a key part of the lions offense at a cheap cost is a very nice wild card to play and see where it goes.

If you could package Monty and tier up - sure. I’m in. But just offloading him laterally is not a high EV play.

Even if Montgomery regresses a bit, Gibbs is already starting the season with a hammy. If he misses any time Monty is a top 5 fantasy back.

I don’t 100% understand fading Derrick Henry when we know his last offense was terrible the past few years and other than his broken foot, he’s remained relatively healthy

I believe you are vastly miscontextualizing Derrick Henry’s efficiency. He went from averaging 120 rushing yards a game, to 90 a game (cmc averaged 94 rushypg last year) to 68 per game under one of the worst offensive lines last year (still ended second in total yards and 9th in rushypg). Even if he is going to experience slight regression because of age, Derrick Henry has been one of the players who have defied the normal drop off for RBs when they approach their 30s. He’s in the best situation he’s had with a duel threat quarterback that can help open up the field and in offense that is good enough where defenses cant stack the box with 7-8 defenders without getting punished (what was happening last season with the titans). He could easily go for over 1.5k total yards and a dozen touchdowns this season.

Monty take is horrendous. This is an RB you can literally get in the 5/6 round who is projected to score the 5th most rushing TDs in the league behind the best offensive line in the game. lol

I got Monty in round 8 as my RB3. I think I’ll keep him around. Gibbs with a soft tissue issue may mean more time for Monty.

Man I never really thought about this…The Gibbs/Montgomery duo and the Kamara/Ingram duo a few years back are identical. Their ages, styles of play, their sizes…damn they even look the same. I see Gibbs emerging this season the way Kamara did.

If anyone watched the Titans last year, you know why Henry had such a down year. He will split the difference between 22-23. He also is unlikely to get pulled whenever the Ravens are behind as he was last year. I understand skepticism that he will be RB6-8, but I also would not trade him until he has a big game.
