It seems to me the movie theater industry COULD adopt a club membership model, like a netflix or a fitness gym. You pay 30 bucks a month, you can come watch 5 movies for free. You pay 50-60 a month, you get unlimited access. Still paying for concessions, priority seating, etc. And sure, if you don't want to see 5 movies a month, you can pay the ticket price. Thumbs up if you agree.

I always get teary at the end of The Right Stuff, as Dennis Quaid makes his space flight, the narration ends up with "...Gordo Cooper became the greatest pilot anyone ever saw" and then Bill Conti's music (my favorite score ever) kicks in. It's heroic and uplifting, but also bittersweet as we see Gus Grissom and hear his tragic fate. Amazing movie, and my favorite ending ever.

I like the idea of Patty Jenkins directing MoS 2, especially because I have NO DOUBT that she'd make the Clark/Lois romance a major focus (like she wanted to for Thor and Jane, and DID do for Diana and Steve), and I really love how Henry Cavill and Amy Adams have handled the characters, and want to hang out with them a LOT.

THAT BEING SAID...if she's focusing on Wonder Woman 2, it could mean a SERIOUS delay in production for MoS 2. And it's been too long as it is, and I WANT IT *NOW*!!!

Piracy is unfortunately has to be done sometimes. For example, down here in New Zealand, the TV show Last Man On Earth has never aired for some reason (we get pretty all major shows down here too), and it's not available on streaming services or even discs. What else are you supposed to do but steal some eps off the net when there's no other way to even watch the first few shows?

Totally agree with you about Life is Beautiful. I was shown that film in high school history I believe when we were studying the holocaust. Even when I was a skeptical teenager I was holding back tears as well as everyone in the class. Absolutely amazing film

People seriously need to get over the War for the Planet of the Apes marketing. The movie was far better than the trailers made it look, which made it seem like it would be a cliche predictable war movie. It doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for the great film it is.

I don't think War for the Planet of the Apes was misleading, but the trailers were. Technically there was a war for the planet between Humans and Apes, it just wasn't shown on screen.

Regarding inflation, the reason why that's more relevant than adjusting for entertainment competition is because with inflation you can get an exact adjustment that's 100% correct. That's not possible with the effects of streaming services, etc. The only other similarly valuable adjustment is to adjust for currency rates, to normalize the value of international vs domestic box office money.

If you don't want to adjust for such things I'd say that it's pointless to make all time comparisons. And well, I guess it actually is pointless.

What I heard was that GoT was so delayed simply because they needed to literally wait for winter to shoot because of the setting of the final season. Too expensive to fake all that I guess. Not sure if that's true or not though.

They did a lot more with her in force awakens they set up the correct seeds for her plot in that - which I thought would be followed by her being disgraced from the first order, going rogue and trying to hunt down Finn to get her job back - much more interesting plot for her and Finn
