I think with the throat 'trick' it may be better to avoid the /i/ (ee) vowel when saying these two sounds. The vowel will always be voiced. Try just saying P' and B'! Nothing like natural pronunciation for your English!!

It seems to me sometimes "p/b" pair sounds very closer in stop position. I mean words like "cap"/"cab", "crap"/"crab", "lab"/"lap".
It is very with "t/d" stops. "hat"/"had", "set"/"said", "bat"/"bad".
So it would be interesting to know your opinion on this.
