People have already pointed out the cleverness of using the Don't Forget leitmotif as well as Ralsei's theme in this song, and while those musical choices from Toby are definitely interesting, what I find most interesting (and personally gratifying) about this track is the inclusion of the Snowdin Town leitmotif at 0:44 -- or should I say, the friendship leitmotif (not to be confused with the track in the OST which just so happens to be named "Friendship"). See, ever since I started analyzing the Undertale OST, I've repeatedly brought up the idea that that leitmotif symbolizes friendship, not Snowdin Town, with Snowdin Town just being the first location in which you hear it. This assumption would make its inclusion in certain Undertale tracks a lot more sensible, and in certain tracks like Hopes and Dreams, legitimately more emotional and powerful (if you're interested in hearing more about this idea, check out my comment on JakobTheQuizGuy's "All Songs with the 'Snowdin Town' melody/leitmotif" video). And with the inclusion of this leitmotif in the track that plays when Kris is in school -- a location that has nothing to do with Snowdin Town (or Papyrus, who some people think that this leitmotif is meant to represent) but has a lot to do with friendship, this theory of mine is basically confirmed. Of course, I don't want to sound like I'm tooting my own horn here; I'm just happy that my thoughts about this particular leitmotif turned out to be correct. Regardless of all that, it's a very nice use of a familiar leitmotif that goes in a long way in making this opening segment of DELTARUNE feel as nostalgic and comfy and possible.

I have to say, after the first two chapters (chapter 2 especially), I wouldn't be surprised if all of Kris's classmates got their own time in the spotlight, particularly Catti and Jockington.
