Who says it's a computer simulation? What if we are eternal souls with nothing to do so to have a game... forget everything, material universe with a set of rules. But this is kind of thinking is probably why you get so many holes in physics and time relativity etc.

why would the person or thing running the simulation want us to even know or suspect that they are running a simulation?

I am the book definition of an introvert, and I really don't like having to present in front of others. I hate having to participate in meetings for the mere sake of having 'input' in the meeting or else getting called out for not saying anything in a meeting by all the extroverts. I don't stutter, but I just have a hard time rapidly finding the right words to get my thoughts out. I have a hard time interjecting once someone is done talking - its like someone else has their pre-made comments ready to go at exactly the right time. When I'm ready to comment, it always everytime feels like I'm interrupting someone else - and I get looked at like I'm talking out of turn. And quite frankly I don't like having to work on what I work on for a living - its become boring to me, but its considered a "good job" and I have a family I need to take care of...

With that all said, when I dream, I can present and say things so fluidly, sometimes its even work related - it blows my mind. In dreams, I interact with other people without any issue or reservation, just like an extrovert would. Flying and super-high jumping using my thoughts however and wherever I want is absolutely the best! Sometimes stuff that I hear in meeting, which usually goes in one ear and out the other, like boring programmatics or schedule or milestone type stuff (the crap they don't tell anyone about in college when you're pursuing your major), comes up as if my brain carbon copied it - I can't recite any of it in the real world, but I can see it and recite it in my dream. Its like why is this other super version of me locked up inside of my head, and why can't I have access or utilize him? I'm just starting to think that this is all preset around me as a virtual simulation of some type, and I'm just riding along - as long as I do what's right (like for example helping a fallen elderly woman stuck at the bottom of the escalator at London Heathrow Airport while all the other NPCs watch her there) and contribute where needed - that's all that matters.
