To be honest I think Nanami's death is perfect. The entire bit in which he is retired in a shot and fighting to for his life in the other is Nanami's entire character summarized: he wants to retire, have a good life. But the real Nanami, is the one that is gonna die. Because he is selfless, he can't allow himself to stop fighting. Nanami's death is the death of the pinnacle of honor and sacrifice.
