Im a Canadian and I visited Banda Aceh in Sept 2014 nearly 10 years after the disaster. I actually was staying at a small guesthouse in Lampuuk, by fluke, and a friend took me to the Rahmatullah masjid. I remembered the pictures that had circulate on the web with only that standing in a sea of nothingness. When I went, it had been renovated and restored entirely except for a small section which had been left untouched in memory of the deceased. It was a very intense experience and I will never forget it. The warmth of the Acehnese and the strength of the people to rebuild touched me very deeply. I ❤ Aceh

When the tsunami in Banten Indonesia killed a band group, there was also an incident at a madrasa where at the time the students were memorizing the qur'an and the area inside the madrasa was completely untouched even though it was located right in front of the beach and the surrounding buildings were in disarray, but the news was not as much as the news from the band players who became victim of the tsunami even in a national media whitch indonesia is a country that have the most largest muslim population in the world

I believe in Allah's power but I also believe that the mosques were properly using better materials than the buildings around them and that helped as well.

Allah the almighty is the sustainer of everything.

I believe this mosque and others to be built from stronger and better materials than the normal surrounding buildings which led to it surviving the tsunami after the will of Allah.

It's funny how some people still makes an excuse of how all the mosques survived because of better material and bla bla bla.. It's a clear divine intervention, a sign from the God Almighty.. Even experts are baffled..

i heard in a video that the mosques were made of special strong material and the houses and buildings were not thus making the reason why it stood
