Connecting Close to Home: Engaging Federal Policymakers in Your Community
Показать описание
Each summer, members of Congress travel back to their home districts for what is known as “August recess,” a district work period where the policymakers meet with and learn about the priorities and concerns of their constituents. This is an opportune time for scientists to reach out and talk with their federal policymakers to advocate for issues of importance to the scientific community.
In this webinar, government relations experts will discuss how to schedule and prepare for a meeting with a congressional office in your community. They will also highlight other ways to engage your policymakers, including tips on how you can host your policymaker at your institution.
This webinar is sponsored by the Geological Society of America, Seismological Society of America, Soil Science Society of America and American Geophysical Union.
Speakers include:
Elizabeth Duffy, Government Relations Liaison, Seismological Society of America
Michael Villafranca, Senior Specialist for Science Policy & Government Relations, American Geophysical Union
Sally Anderson, Deputy Chief of Staff / District Director, Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02)
William McPherson, District Director, Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04)
