It looks like there's F-4N parts in there too. The ALQ-126 antenna fairings next to the main gear struts and it has the AIM-9Ls that are only on Ns. They split the seeker head off the missile so they didn't have to make extra missile motors and wings. No extras for the junk box! Looks like two rear instrument panels, one with an ALE-45 (?) scope that would be for an N.

I was hoping they'd include a radar set. I worked on those things for eight years.

In the differences with the horizontal stabilizers, the first sprue you showed was for the earlier f-4 Phantoms. They have solid leading edges. Experience in combat over Vietnam showed a need for increase maneuverability for the aircraft. One of the fixes was to introduce a fixed inverted leading slats to the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizers. This is the second type of stabilizers that you show on the second sprue.
Naval versions of the F-4 were the F-4B, F-4N(mid-life upgrade of the F-4B), F-4J and F-4S(mid-life upgrade of the F-4J). Then there was the British F-4K (becoming the FG-1 after being "Anglezied") with Rolls Royce Spey turbofan engines that required a redesign of the fuselage to accommodate them. They were bigger than the original General Electric J79 turbojet engines that powered all other variants of the F-4 family.

Some great, marking choices there VF-111 Sundowers and VF-161 Chargers - two of my favorite schemes. Looks like the stash build schedule is going to get pushed this year!

Very nice. I have this kit on order from you and can't wait to do a video series once it is released. I've never dont a Tamiya model and hear they are very fun and easy to do. So far, I only have a video series on the Revell Phantom with the Candy Cane dogfight scheme.

Andy, I appreciate you might not be able to do this, but a comparison with the Zoukei-Mura equivalent would be very illuminating imo. The kit looks very good with Tamiya's excellent superior ease of build (and probably fit) designed in. I noticed the instruction sheet shows three examples on the second page.

So with that molded detail in the recessed areas for the missiles, it will really benefit the option of adding magnets attach the missiles instead of gluing them on. 😉

Great video and good news from Tamiya! I adore Phantom and build only this bird. Would love to have this kit. Thanks for the info! Tchaikovsky as a back track made the video even more intriguing.))
