This video is so, so good. It's spot on + what I'm talking to all my creator friends about as well. So happy you made this video!

I was subsribed to you a couple years back and started to feel like I was no longer connecting with your content because of how sterile it started to feel. Seeing you now shows to me that your proactive personality was what drew me in and how you are pivoting your channel made me subscribe again. I'm excited to see your content again :)

I'm glad you came back with this 'unapologetically authentic' advice as I pivoted to YouTube.

My niche is unsexy, nor fun.

All of the 'YouTube Guru' advice was intimidating. They made me feel 'less than' because I didn't care about the money grab. I genuinely just want to share my family's lessons learned about the consequences of not planning for golden years outside of the retirement fund aspect.

Once I started being just me, my subscriber count tripled to a whopping 150. And I cried happy tears because that is 150 people I can help.

My most viewed video has reached over 300 views. That is 300+ people I've helped with that topic.

I'm getting paid in the comments from people saying THANK YOU!

That is my WHY! And why I will keep going.

Vanessa I can't thank you enough for this video. Right on time! I just pivoted on my channel and people are falling away but I'm happier and feel like the ones that stayed are there for the big virtual hug I'm trying to give.

I needed this video today. Thanks for posting Vanessa. And I love the quote “the personal is universal.” That’s so powerful.

I just got this HUGE insight from your video: if the only thing you obtain by going into a specific business is to find out that that you don't want to be in that business, it was totally worth it.

And I also say it from experience. Thanks, amazing video!!!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have a faceless YouTube channel and I've been posting a bunch of Shorts lately. The thing that worked best for me was giving my videos a small boost on third party tools specifically designed for this (my favorite is to use a bit of Famester). This caused my Shorts to spread out literally everywhere, bringing more and more organic views and subs day after day.

I love these types of vulnerable videos, Vanessa! ☺As a small content creator with a little bit more than 10K subs I am always on the lookout for authentic advice but there is not much out there except for the usual "keep posting regularly without any breaks and make sure every video is a little bit better than the last one blah blah" and I am honestly so sick of it. It is a recipe for burnout. I want to create content that connects with my audience and makes them feel seen. Your advice is a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much for creating content based on your true self and letting us be part of your journey 💗

Love to see you back as your authentic self Vanessa
You're shining so brightly ✨✨✨
I'm rooting for you

I totally agree with you when you said "we don't have content ideas, we have thoughts, lessons, stories and experiences"
These are the things that makes us Creators. And it makes creating content itself easy like a flow and fun.

I'm so happy to see the growth you've attained Vanessa and how you're more of yourself now and you're enjoying this.
Will forever be your fan😁

Sending you loads of love❤, Victoria.

Vanessa: I love the part where you said, "Withdrawal is necessary to creativity." I think of this similarly, in that as creators, we sometimes focus too much on the summer season of our business, and we ignore winter when she comes. We ignore the dark, the death, the destruction. And yet, we DESPERATELY need our winter season JUST as much as we need summer in order to create true, lasting balance, and an ability to be ever-changing creators. It doesn't mean we always need to burn it all down, but as you mentioned here - Start with taking a week off. Taking rest. Allowing yourself to not always be plugged in. Get out of your business, and into your life! <3

Thank you for sharing your journey so authentically. I too took a sabbatical from my company for a year around the same time as you, after my marriage fell apart and I went through a long-distance separation due to infidelity, and due to Canada's housing crisis (I couldn't find a home within several hours of my ex husband and ended up having to move 3 hours away). I genuinely have been processing and figuring out who I am NOW that I have gone through all of that, and coming back has been a rocky journey. I feel you are one creator that simply GET IT. <3 I have felt the pull to be less the face of my work, and to have it continue without needing to be on a public pedestal of it all, which I am still figuring out. One day at a time! :)

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for expressing your story so genuinely.

I swear you like the only person making content for those of us in the middle of our journey. You’re right there’s so much that just targets the top of the funnel we’re kind of left out!

I really appreciate your content and the vulnerability you show. Taking a break not only added value to you, but also your audience gets to benefit from your experience 🙏🏾.

Hi Vanessa,

I don’t often leave comments for anyone, but I feel immense gratitude for you, your work, who you are, and your continuous evolution. You are my anchor amidst the mental chaos of indecision and insecurity about the idea of starting my own YouTube channel. Your values are constantly evolving, and I’ve appreciated you for a long time—more and more every day.

Thank you for being that sense of stability. Whenever I turn to your content, I listen carefully and take notes because you are the key to my success. I know that after watching just a couple of your videos, I find all the answers that were swirling in my mind that day.

Keep being exactly who you are, always growing. You are genuine, and you touch the heart.

Thank you so much ❤️
