Great advice! Only thing I’d add would be when removing a tick that’s latched on, remove from the head. At least that’s what I’ve always been told. Don’t know if that’s accurate 🤷

Awesome advice Metro. Those ticks are so awful. Oh and I loved that bamboo forest behind you. That part about the tick throwing up was really good to know.

My litttle brother at the age of 9 had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. It was horrible. Just permetherined our gear and we take picaridin on trail. One thing I have trouble with is my hair. I'm a frizzy haired brunette. Ugh.

wow...i have never heard that tip about not putting chems on a tick before removing it. makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing, i wont be doing that anymore. BTW i love that stand of bamboo behind you, being a bushcrafter, i see all kinds of stuff to make...lol

I took a few months off from hiking on the FT just because I was seeing so many people finding ticks. I finally did my first little section hike on the FT and as far as I know didn't get any ticks on me lol I feel like I'm more likely to suffer from heat stroke than lime disease 😅

I'm sensitive to deet, but picaridin has been working great for me. Spray my shoes and clothes before I go out & apply lotion or liquid to exposed skin.

I am about to go through the thorough Permethrin ritual. Along with all my clothes, I also spray my backpack, tent, and everything that goes in my pack. Ticks scare me more than snakes or bears. Those were good and important tips.

Nice tips on ticks. Just removed a couple here the other day after a hike. Some areas with a lot of deer is worse than others. Thank you for sharing and wishing you a wonderful day.

Great video Bella got ticks bad this year we were up to South Haven Michigan for one week I bet she had 40 tix on her throughout the week and she’s got a high dollar tick collar I don’t know how good they work I don’t think they work that great needless to say I’ve been pulling ticks off her daily Now that we’re in the mid June it doesn’t seem like she’s picking up any ticks now which is good
