I tried writing like readwithcindy! Cindy has one of the largest booktube channels on YouTube right now. In this writing vlog, I cover what I've learned about Cindy Pham's writing routine. She mostly talks about what she does in her vlogs and does not have an official writing routine out yet.

this is so cool and im honored that you chose me to do this writing routine!! im finding that the most consistent way i've been writing is through sprints with writer friends, and we usually do them as: 25 minutes for a warmup, then 40 minutes for a longer sprint. i usually am only able to write in the evenings too because of my job and terrible sleep schedule. in an ideal world i want to be able to write during daylight to get it over with lol. totally agree with your thoughts at the end of the video - writing sprints with other people have been the ONLY way im actually getting writing done, otherwise im not as accountable when im by myself! btw congrats on putting in your 2 weeks, i hope you find something that makes you happier and more fulfilled! AND YES finally someone who just likes to drink water too!

Cindy is great and I loved seeing what you can take from her writing habits!
I TOTALLY agree about writing with others - it has been so rewarding for me too and I love how creative I’ve been writing on live streams and talking with others!

I always love when booktubers or authortubers acknowledge each other or collaborate. Ironically, the day after I discover your channel, you post a video about ReadWithCindy, one of my favorite booktubers. I'm really enjoying this video and your content!

I love Cindy's channel! This was a lot of fun. I don't think I'd get through the morning without coffee, I should probably try lol!
It's definitely a challenge to balance a full time job with all the creative stuff there is to do. Give yourself time to get used to it--you've only been doing it for a couple months! After a while, it gets easier 💕

It's interesting seeing what every writer's process is! Writing in the morning seems to be a common theme I find with my favorites. I think I'm going to make a compilation of trying out the strange writing habits/quirks of my favorite writers in history. Should be fun :P

I love this idea so much! I wanna try this! You might be fun to try and wrote like lol, maybe I should try writing like you.
I love how open the authortube community is and how supportive we all are of each other and it's truly a great community to be a part of! Great Video:)

I love this video. I'll try writing in pajamas since they are so comfortable.

Great video! I think live streams are the best thing ever. I started doing them in November for NaNo even if I just have 50 subscribers and I love them! Not only they force me to make time to write, they also help me interact with other writers

I want to be a morning writer, I enjoy the mornings and the body energy, but my creative energy isn't ...settled? I always write BEST later in the day because I feel like I wake up and calm down from a frenetic energy to something more attuned to creativity. I definitely have started to think about my writing in pockets of time, even if I intend to write all day. It seems to help me focus better that way. I think it works best when I mix writing with breaks of other things-- little bits of time to clean, a half hour to draw, twenty minutes for a video-- that kind of mix.

Thank you for what you said about showing up to the page. I have not been doing that recently and it means I don't get any writing done. I think it's important to be there and work at it, regardless, because it has great value to me.

How do people only drink water? I wish I could catch that from somebody. I also prefer ice cold water too. It's just tastier in my opinion. Maybe I'm daft.

I'm definitely an evening writer, although I do squeeze in sprints on my breaks at work too! This is interesting, I love writing experiments and I'm looking forward to doing some myself. Congrats on putting in your two weeks!

This was such a great video, it makes me want to try out someone else's writing routine 😆 I'm definitely a hardcore morning writer lol I wake up at like 6:30 or 7 every morning and I get tired by like 9pm, so evening/night writing is out of the question 😂 I might try it one day though

I'll try this to keep my creativity fresh.

Writing almost on the same schedule tends to drain my creativity.

Great video. I like the comment about writing in small increments of time. Parkinson's Law keeps kicking me in the backside. When I get a stretch of free time, I lie to myself that I will focus on writing. Never happens. I also wrongly fight against the need to finish other tasks. Actually, allowing myself to be busy in other areas is not mutually exclusive to writing, as Cindy Pham has demonstrated. Also, I spend too much time on screens before bed, making me agitated in the morning. So this is a great reminder to read before bed. I think I would say I am a morning writer, but sometimes, I have not been able to write until the evening.

Tuesday is my busiest day as I think I am a morning writer, or at least that is when I am most inspired but I prefer writing in the evening and late into the night because no one in my house is awake at that time and also because of the time zone difference, that is when most of the live streams take place. I love writing during sprints. It is much more fun to write with so many people even though we are physically apart then writing alone.

I typically write in the morning (before work) and don't usually go for more than like 30 mins. Lately I've just been writing by myself for about 30 mins until I feel like I want to stop but my brain is still buzzing with what I can write next. I haven't been pushing myself as much as I used to and instead have been enjoying the writing process and all the little word choices rather than rushing through them

I used to be a morning writer when I had days off. However, more and more I’m finding myself only getting into a flow in the evening. Even when I try to write throughout the day I feel like I get the most done at night. I’m still sorta in denial and trying to stay a morning writer lol

Hey Sara, I love your videos. Could you do a video talking about passive voice? Ive noticed you mention it a few times. How do you spot it when editing (I'm about to start my rewrites) and any tips for improving it??

I can write well in the mornings, and if I have an evening when I am alone and am not dead tired, it works relally well - buut those evenings are rare, unfortunately, LOL! The afternoon isn't a good time for me, because I'm mostly tired and uncreative and need a break.
My work schedule is often very irregular, so I always need to fit my writing into my days/ weeks. I take the time wherever I find it. ;-)
I can plot and brainstorm and take notes pretty much any time and in between, but for drafting I need at least half an hour to get in tune with a scene and my writing. 15 minutes is not enough.
