The Knights left their homes to go fight in strange lands. They prayed for decisive victories so that there would be peace.

Give Peace Oh Lord.“Da pacem, Domine. [For peace.] An antiphon of the 6th or 7th century, founded on ii. Kings xx. 19; ii. Chron. xx. 12, 15; and Psalms cxxii. 6. By a Bull of Pope Nicholas III., 1279, it was ordered to be sung at every mass before the Agnus Dei. In the Paris Breviary of 1643, it is given along with a Collect for Peace, which occurs in the Sacramentary of Gelasius, A.D. 494, as a Commemoratio de Pace per Annum.

I was raised Presbyterian. I gave up faith for a long time... but, something, someone, called me back. I made the decision to become Catholic last year. I still have not taken the steps to convert in earnest, but I believe, and I welcome Christ as my King. These chants help me feel the presence of God, feel Him as He is, right beside me.
If anyone knows what I have to do to join the faith, I welcome any and all advice.

Eu fui ateu no passado, mas graças a uma pessoa que falava de Deus comigo, um cara que estudava teologia e metafísica, usando palavras diferentes das que todos usavam para brigar comigo por ser ateu, passei a acreditar e a perceber a verdadeira presença de Deus na minha vida. Essa pessoa falava de ciência, e quando eu disse que Deus não existia, a pessoa me disse que Deus não precisa existir, porque foi Deus quem criou o conceito de existência. Deus está infinitamente além das leis do universo e não somos capazes de entender a presença de Deus, mas Deus é quem ele é, embora nós, meros seres no universo, não possamos entender isso. Posso não entender, mas sinto a presença de Deus. Sou infinitamente grato à pessoa que me explicou isso, porque os estudos dela e a explicação dela foi o que salvou minha vida. Talvez eu não saiba explicar racionalmente o que me leva a crer, mas são muitas coincidências, dia após dia, sincronicidades, coisas que eu peço em orações e que se tornam realidade, momentos em que já me encontrei sem forças ou sem paz e repentinamente as forças e a serenidade voltam instantaneamente, casos de parentes doentes onde os médicos diziam não haver saída e no final as coisas dão certo e a cura aparece de uma vez...somos somente seres humanos, somos uma criação dentro do Universo, assim como todas as outras coisas existentes. Temos limites. Às vezes penso que nós somos meio ignorantes em querer entender toda a complexidade dessa realidade em que vivemos, e querermos determinar se Deus existe ou não. Acredito que existem certas coisas nesse Universo que simplesmente não temos capacidade para entender ou explicar. Assim como uma formiga não entende o mundo dos seres humanos, os seres humanos não são capazes de entender um mundo espiritual e o Universo por inteiro. Fiquem em paz.
