Preventing Trafficking Before It Begins

“When girls come into a red-light area, the first thing is that they are broken, physically and emotionally,” Leena says. “It’s like they will be caught, hands and legs tied, and all heinous crimes committed on them.” These are the brutal realities that Missing Link Trust fights against every day.

Many of these girls are from impoverished regions like the Sundarbans, and traffickers prey on their vulnerability. “It’s shocking that they sell themselves for as low as a hundred rupees,” Leena adds. "They ready her through violent acts, removing all threads of shame from her."

But why wait until a girl is trafficked to save her? Missing Link Trust believes in stopping trafficking at its root — through “prevention, prevention, prevention” as Leena puts it. The goal is simple: protect girls from ever being lost to this darkness.
