To get the most out of any computer it must be clean and have good air flow. Over time the fans, the filters, and the internals of the computer can become caked in dust. This will effect your performance and how long the computer will last. In this episode we show you how to clean out your computer and make it it runs strong.

Thanks for the reminder, Shaun. I just got haulin and started up the air compressor here. *cough cough* boy was it dusty in there. Even though I usually clean my air filters during winter the amount of dust that collected inside was still huge.

Removed the fans on my Noctua NH-D14 so I could blast some air through the fins. Also removed the upper cover of my Geforce GTX 480 so I could get to the fins, a clearly needed move.

Anyway, thanks again! :D

best advice I gave to my friends "if your pc doesn't work, doesn't matter in what way...CLEAN it!" good to see you back Shaun! just discovered your Simpit channel :)

Excellent!!! good to see you again, great vid. Hardware is so expensive, taking care of them is a big part of sims. Keep up the good work.

The international space station called, they want their computer case back.

Possibly worth a part 2 focusing on a software clean up, it's amazing how many little programs you gather for racing that could be deleted

I would also recommend whilst removing components and doing a "spring clean"is to take of the cpu fan and heat sink clean off and reapply new cpu grease. Love the new channel Shaun keep the vids coming.

@kurt marr why don't you start your own channel which is solely focused on sim racing ? Your obviously a wealth of information.

I've been a tech for a long time, and have cleaned a LOT of PC's, and another tip I would throw in is using soft-bristle paint brushes to get into those tight crevices and loosen up hard stuck dust for the air to work. I bought a big pack of various sized brushes for less than $5. Will save you a lot of compressed air if you loosen up the dust first. Like the show so far, keep it up.

Another idea for your show, Shaun (welcome back, btw :)
Most of us are using steering wheels.
There are a lot of similar settings (FFB, damper, spring, etc).
How about a nice "FFB tutorial", with video samples. What does what and how does it affect the feel and the car?

This is handy, haven't cleaned my yet. No way I'll be removing bits though, I'm far too much of a n00b.

Thanks for letting everyone one know the PSU ground cable trick.

Also it's worth noting, do be careful of how violently you move the compressed air can. Moving it too quickly especially if a relatively new can of air can cause it to blow out as a liquid and land on your motherboard or graphics card etc.

This can cause a short of your electrical components by leaving a residue behind. There are cans of this air that are specifically made for cleaning electrical components and these usually contain an anti electrostatic compound to prevent just such an occurrence.

I highly recommend you buy cans that feature this.

Hey Shaun, I have a quick recommendation. Do you think you could work on the lighting angles to reduce some of the hard shadowing in the backround? Also some of the lights close to the really reflective white walls in say the right corner are causing a little over exposure darkening you a little bit.

Just a few observations. Love the content, keep it up!

How could moving the fan be damaging? Its spins over 1000 rpm.

Cool video Shaun. Nice PC setup you have there. Maybe not the case I would have bought but that's whats great these days, there is so much choice. I bought a Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper case :) which i'm sure many many people would take a disliking to but I LOVE it :)

Very jelly of your graphics card btw :( ... I'm rocking an AMD HD7970 and its nothing but trouble :( so many graphical glitches and weird performance issues. I wanted to like it so much as its the first real high end gpu ive ever had, but unfortunately ill be going to NVidia from now on :(

p.s. for some reason your videos in 480p look as good, if not better than some peoples videos in 720p or even 1080p its crazy. so well done on whatever your doing, its working :)

You should get a few cable extenders and run that 8pin CPU cable behind the motherboard. Overall, it's a nice computer. Also, I like the new channel!

So you have yourown channel now Shaun? It looks good. You got yourself a sub. :)

There is an error in the link to your website, it's missing a letetr "p" in the simPit. Might want to fix that as it takes you to some strange looking website.
