Woodturning - Scrap Oak & Resin Pedestal Bowl

Woodturning Oak is interesting. It’s very hard, and makes pretty nice cuts with a gouge, but the end grain is not easy to get sanded totally smooth. I used a pressure pot to get the air bubbles out of the resin and was pleased to find that there weren’t any air pockets in the cured piece, which makes for a much easier turning experience!

I really like how the resin turned out. Some really fun swirls in there! Nice work!!

That really turned out nice!
Do you have an Idea of what you are going to create before you start? Or, are you the type of artist that just lets it develop as you are working the piece? Either way it looks awesome.

Do you have a favorite non-food safe epoxy? I’m experimenting with different brands and haven’t found any I love yet. Thanks.
