My sister and I were blessed one day while eating lunch with my Mom. She had dementia and she was living in a memory care unit. At lunch she started telling us all about her daughters. Telling us about the special gifts she saw in each of us. It was so beautiful and heartwarming.

The night before he died, he called me in the room. He remembered me that I was his son completely told me thank you for taking care of and the next morning at about 1030 he just died.

I used to volunteer in a assisted care facility. There was one lady, Dolly, who always called me 'Kathleen' (not my name) and would regale me with stories about her time as a dancer for Frank Sinatra. The nurses in the ward took me aside and explained she had pretty bad dementia so take everything she says with a grain of salt.

She was a very funny person, and other then not being able to remember anyone's name or the exact details of what happened yesterday, she was not as bad as some of the other patients. So I listened to her anyway.

One day she asked me if I wanted to see a picture of her as a dancer, to which I said yes and we went back to her room and I was STUNNED because she had an entire wall of pictures with a bunch of famous people she had met! Including her as a dancer for Frank Sintatra. I mean so many famous people, including Elvis. She had no idea who they were and only remembered Frank Sinatra.

She passed only 2 weeks after that, very suddenness in her sleep. I was devestated and stopped volunteering there because I was young (only a teenager) and I thought the nurses didn't listen to her about her headaches and that is why she died.

30 year later still volunteer but at a food bank now.

My mother was a professional pianist... She lost her mind before she died. I'll never forget playing one of her CDs for her and she had no idea it was even her.

The best part to me is that she loves herself. She doesn’t know the stories are about her, and she’s just like, “this woman is awesome” ❤

This daughter has strength beyond belief.

The daughter deserves a medal that she isn't breaking down saying this to her. I would have been ugly crying two seconds after she said "Sounds like me"

I was my Mom's caregiver for her last 3 years. She was 95 when she passed in her own bed, at home. We had some of the best conversations like this. She would tell me all about her daughter and I would tell her all about my Mom. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything now. Keep doing what you're doing. You won't regret it.❤

Hearing someone speak past tense to the person they’re talking about/to is heart wrenching. Bless this family.

I love the way she was so committed to hearing the story. I bet she was the best listener when her children were growing up.

While my mother was in an assisted living facility with dementia, I would visit her almost daily. During one visit, I was chatting with her, and she said, "I have a beautiful daughter that looks just you." Tears. Even now. She passed ten years ago.

Can we just acknowledge how difficult this must have been for her daughter to do this as if she was talking about someone else? So beautifully done. And so heartbreaking.
