This movie is very interesting as it shows the personal conflict among the local elites, and it also shows the personal grudges among the masses against their landlord. Such history have been ignored by Filipino historians. That is why most of the Filipinos do not know such complicated history during the Japanese occupation, and it has been forgotten already even among the people in rural Philippine. Some of the poor Filipinos collaborated with the Japanese in order to take a vengeance on their former masters or landlords who exploited them in their hacienda during the American colonial years.

No wonder the film was arranged into 3 parts.
*Filipino superstition has it that staircases should not end in a multiple of three (oro, plata, mata) or else it would send a bad luck.
In my opinion, this is one of the greatest Filipino films ever made.

wow ang ganda ng remaster ng mga film na ito .. sana iyong iba pang mga old films natin sana iremaster esp ung mga pelikula from 30's to 60's era

I used to have this on DVD from 15 yrs ago & I couldn’t find it so now I had to pay $5 from iTunes if I wanna watch it. I’ve seen the film while growing up in the 80’s but didn’t pay attention to it since I’m too young. They played d film in our freshman orientation at d university in d mid-90’s & I almost threw up cuz it was so intense. One of d few masterpiece in Phil. cinema, they don’t make art gems like this anymore.

The house in "Oro Plata Mata" used as the _Hacienda Lorenzo_ was the same house used (albeit different due to 3 decades that already passed) in Peque Gallaga's "Sonata" starring Cherie Gil; the film was shown around 3 months before Yolanda happened. I have no news whatsoever of what happened to the site.

'Yung ginamit para sa _Hacienda Lorenzo_ sa trailer ay 'yung kaparehong bahay (na obviously 30 years later na ang hitsura) na ginamit sa "Sonata" ni Peque Gallaga starring Cherie Gil; 'yung pelikula pinalabas mga 3 buwan bago ang Yolanda. Actually wala akong nababalitaan kung buhay pa 'yung lugar...
