Here is our recommendation for The Best 1-Day Itinerary if you are travelling to Edinburgh, Scotland!
-------- ----------- --------- ------------ ---------
Edinburgh is a magical city, and you could easily spend more than one day here - but if you are tight on time, take a look to see how we recommend spending 24 hours in the city:

1. Start off with a delicious, homecooked breakfast. We stopped by Preacher's Patisserie to try their fresh scones and breakfast rolls.

2. After breakfast, we made our way to Victoria Street, which is a charming street lined with colourful Victorian buildings. There is also a Harry Potter shop for those of you who are fans (note that there is often a line to get into the store, so leave extra time if you want to do this!)

3. Head to the Royal Mile (which is actually 1 mile and 107 yards long). Here you will find plenty of shops, souvenirs, food vendors, and landmarks. You can walk the entire Royal Mile, which starts at Edinburgh Castle and ends at Holyrood Palace (or do half and turn back like we did.)

4. From the Royal Mile, it's a short walk to the Scott Monument - a beautiful Victorian memorial for the Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott. The monument is directly across from the National Gallery, which you can add to your itinerary if you wish - and admission is free!

5. Take a stroll through East Princes Street Garden and head up the stairs towards Edinburgh Castle.

6. Outside the Edinburgh Castle is Tolbooth Kirk, a neo-gothic structure worth stopping by for a photo. This is also a popular place to spot bagpipers!

7. Head into Edinburgh Castle - which sits on top of a hill overlooking the whole city, and has multiple overlooks to catch different views. The castle itself has many activities, including a War Memorial museum and a creative walk-through jail recreation experience.

8. Be sure to stop by the Greyfriar's Bobby - a statue made for a Terrier who lived and died in Edinburgh in the 1800s.

9. Another area worth stopping by is Greyfriar's Kirkyard, a graveyard with beautiful and well-maintained grounds. It also houses the famous site of Tom Riddle's grave - a character that Harry Potter fans will be familiar with!

10. We recommend taking another stroll through Victoria Street once it gets dark if you can - at night, the street really comes alive and the colourful buildings really pop (if you're lucky enough to be here during a festival or around Christmas time, the street will be extra lit up!)

11. Finish your day off at one of the many traditional pubs for a local beer and some Scottish grub (we got burgers and chunky chips!)

Let us know if we left anything out! And thank you for watching/reading, we hope you have an awesome time in Edinburgh.
