Man I have done survival training but I have never made any thing like . That shelter is awesome plus my skills are a bit rusty so this was a great refresher

Brilliant to combine the two structures! I'd usually choose either, but until I saw this I never considered combining them.

There is an air vent on the top, hot air rises. The walls are sloped so that the bed and other material inside are sheltered from the rain. Thanks for the questions!

It dissipates through the walls quite well and there is also and opening at the top. But even though it goes through the walls when the boughs are weaved thick enough it will shed almost all the rain quite well. I call it survival goretex, lets stuff out but nothing in!

Great video guys! Once the tripod is up, is there anything to hold the additional poles in place other than gravity and woven vines? Is there a special pattern/technique to placing the additional poles? Thanks!

Cody Lundin slept in one for a few years. I have slept in them tons. They protect well against the elements, but this particular shelter will need more boughs to be really water resistant.

Cool, thanks brother. I assume once those leaves get wet, they get heavy so that probably helps. I'll just make sure to put my shelter in a thick grove if possible. Thanks for the response.

yes that is typically how it would be built. start with a small shelter and keep adding to it

Ive watched lots of videos of debris shelters and non of them have added the aspect of strong winds blowing away the leafs so I figure just putting on branches over the leafs to hold them down. or do you have a better way to keep the leafs in place ?

I agree with the south or east facing opening. however of the 3 big rainstorms so far this year, 2 of them have been driving rainstorms out of the east ! :) strangeness happens

Excellent video! I'm going to have to give it a go. Question: I noticed the fire ring in the main section. How does the smoke escape? Did you leave an opening at the peak like the teepee's used, or will it disapate through the walls? Thanks in advance.

The "first step" is get twenty friends and keg. :) just kidding!

That is one fine shelter, or maybe I should say house as it's quite extensive. Very nice demonstration.

pretty much, if you get termites they can sometimes eat the structure if you aren't constantly living in it, but other than that I have had them last of years.

The door way needs to be blocked about 16 inches at the bottom. Look at real teepee's they don't have open door ways all the way to the ground. This would keep out the coldest air next to the ground, Just a tip! Thanks, Love your vids as usual.
