I've been wanting and looking at solar panels for some time. I have looked at the Renogy portable system since I first saw it from Chris & G travels last year I think it was. My only concern is storage in my Class B ... It is definitely doable. I don't generally stay in any one place for any length of time and am not sure that I would get the benefit from it ... my electric needs are very limited. I also have purchased one of the Goal Zero 400 watts solar generators. I am very pleased with it and it has allowed me to keep my devices (2 phones, iPad, laptop and a hand full of assorted camera batteries) charged in the evenings with no issues. I do have 2 - 6 VOLT coach batteries as well. I plug the Goal Zero into a portable inverter during the day when I'm driving to keep it charged for evening use.

Solar is still something I would like to look into and the portable system would be the way to start for me. I do attend a number of multi day festivals and it would be handy for them.

Joe, based on your recommendation, I bought this system using the link to Amazon on your website, and also purchased the 20' extension cables, giving me the ability to park the coach in the shade, with the solar system out where it should be, in the sun. An excellent buy at about $320 including the $40 optional cables that are really necessary for best use of this system. Maybe there are a few subscribers out there that can fan-fund the purchase for you. Lessee ... if four subscribers send you $10 bucks each ...

Perfect. Exactly what I have been looking for, but do they make this in more wattage?
I will be glad when they learn to make smaller size solar panels with increased wattage. solar panels now are big and bulky and take up too much room.

I purchased the upgraded 100W Eclipe suitcase from Renogy. The panels are better and it comes with a 30amp charge controller. I paid a bit over $100.00 more for that Eclipse. My issue was that it came with 2 missing bolts for the legs. No big deal right? Well.... when I called them the customer service rep said I had to send them a picture of the missing bolts. WHAT?? like I would call to rip them off of 2 bolts? She was just unfriendly and not cooperative. I finally reminded her of what social media is today and she finally agreed.
The eclipse is not bad.. like you said..the cord is way too short. I purchased a red and black 30' line with the same plug ends as what the suitcase has. I installed a zamp connector with a polarity swapper ( zamp is backwards) and ran the wires through a cargo bay and put ring clips onto the batteries. I think the whole structure of the suitcase is cheap and the charge controller will not stay attached to the swinging panel. Too much metal on the handle for those hot days and you grab that handle after it has been in the sun.So.. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Pay the extra money for a better brand. Their customer service is also less than desirable. They did send the 2 bolts though :)

Do you think the panels can keep up with a 12 v small 1.3 sq ft fridge?

Thanks for your review, your helpful videos and allowing us to look through the window of your world. I found myself asking one question on your review of the portable solar panels. How can you make them secure? I'm sure no one wants to sit around their RV all day waiting for batteries to charge and since they are not inexpensive what do you do to keep them safe while you are away? Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Great videos... but on the most recent ones the audio doesn't match up to the video (during most of it). It seems like the sound is way ahead of the video until right at the end - then it catches up. Maybe it's the new camera?

This is a terrific video review. I wanted a "real" review of this.

9 Days without the generator or hook up sounds real good with just that panel. Do you have a residential refrigerator?

Great video. We've been looking at this for some time now wondering if it would be worth the investment. Our batteries aren't in a convenient location (under the steps), but I've seen some installs where they mount some remote connection points to hook up the wires from the Renogy. Keep up the good work.

The project like this step by step is described on the Avasva website and many more plans you can find on that website.
