As a meteorologist by degree, I absolutely love this. I am appalled by how many “emergencies” they issue now. Heat waves are now broadcast as the apocalypse. Warnings are helpful but not when it’s abused. It desensitizes the people from when a real storm actually hits. And they will only say what models say rather than their own intuition, experience or looking up at the sky.

As a tv meteorologist, I’d say more than half of us are constantly trying to get the news department to not overhype everything. Some companies are worse than others when it comes to hyping things up.

I saw a funny clip of a newscaster pretending like he was trying not to get blown over by the wind and another guy walked past behind him normally.

I used to want to be the weather reporter in San Diego. I figured that was the easiest job in the world. "Tomorrow will be the same as today. Back to you."

The worst part is nowadays the weatherman is the only one on the news that is half believable.

In my first semester of Meteorology the professor said "until we have instruments that can measure every single air molecule in the entire world, forecasting will always be incorrect. We just try to get it close."

Have we had "If Human Resources Was Honest" yet? It could be the scripting and filming equivalent of dividing by zero, but that's a risk I'm willing to take

Weather is my favorite part of the news. It keeps me “informed” in case I need to cancel the plans I don’t have

As a degree in meteorology this is pure gold. I found a better job where I actually have to be correct more than 50% of the time

I like how you announce the real ads now before the REAL REPORT!

Even though I know the weather people sometimes go over board I am glad I found Mr. Weatherman channel on Youtube Brian is honest and straightforward without all the fluff and crap he get right o the point. Thanks for sharing the video.

Agreed that "TV" or Broadcast NEWS companies want to portray the weather this way, but the people who actually work as forecasters for the National Weather Service (NWS) do a very good job and their websites for your local area are all that anyone needs. If you want a *no nonsense forecast* for your local area, go with the NWS websites and get it straight from the professionals.

Really nobody is going to give props for "Horton hears some news"? That was a great joke.

When we lived in Bath, PA, the severe thunderstorm warnings were scary accurate, but as soon as we moved to Allentown, PA, that accuracy dropped considerably. Pretty much 19 out of 20 severe thunderstorm warnings don't actually lead to a thunderstorm. Most we've been getting is the sky getting dark, about 5 raindrops and then nothing else.

It got so inaccurate that we started joking, "better water the plants, there's a severe thunderstorm warning."

Having recently paid for bags of sand at a home improvement store, I could go for free "fill it yourself" sandbags.

I remember driving past the radio station in Trenton NJ, back in the 90s. The radio was telling me the weather was partly cloudy, and in the low 40s. Unfortunately for them, at that moment it was 28F, completely overcast _and snowing._ They'd have done much better if they had only opened a window and looked outside.
