Annual Art exhibition celebrates Black Artist

Artist and Curator, Lashun Tines kicked off his annual Art of Blackness 2019 Exhibition with a celebratory event at downtown Chicago’s Block 37 on November 30th. In 2011 Tines created this exhibition in response to non-inclusive hiring practices that limited Black artists’ exposure within the art community. The goal of the event and exhibition is to give African Americans more of a presence in the art community by hiring and highlighting them in this showcase.The display ran through December 15th at Block 37. It featured 19 artists with diverse artwork and styles.
