The nail file would be more useful if the rough area went all the way to the edges of the file. Just my opinion I guess because I've not heard anyone else talk about it.

Very clever ideas!

I sharpened the spine of the file/screwdriver to make it a very effective ferro rod striker. I sharpened the side that closes into the body for less than five minutes with a small sharpening stone.
